Assist clients in learning basic conversation skills in an informal group setting. Classes run Monday-Thursday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
If you’re 18 or older and passionate about helping immigrants and refugees feel at home, we need you. Ways to volunteer include: mentoring, language interpreting, helping newcomers with taxes, providing assistance during events, etc. Become a key part of our welcoming community and support newcomers as they settle into their new life.
We provide a variety of get together events and activities for retired persons, seniors, and elderly individuals. We need volunteers to assist with planning and preparing events and activities for our retired members, as well as general administrative work such as answering phones.
Youth Support Volunteers provide critical support to youth that are transitioning to independent living. You’ll help youth aged 16-24 to build essential life skills, access the resources that they need in the community, and succeed in their educational pursuits. This role involves offering guidance, encouragement, and mentoring while supporting youth with their daily activities, studies, and personal development.
Assist clients who are absolute beginners to English learn the letters and sounds of the alphabet. Help clients develop specific English skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking). Scheduling is based on volunteer/client availability.
This is a great way to help out the organization if you cannot commit to regular volunteering hours. Throughout the year, we have a few awareness events as well as our annual fundraising events:
– The Amazing Race Against HIV – held on a Saturday in August or September
– The Annual AIDS Benefit – held at the GLCR the Friday evening closest to December 1st
Assist our Education Team at education information tables and presenting presentations. Opportunities for education information tables are available in the summer while presentations to schools, correctional facilities, universities, and community centres are throughout the year.
Assist REACH Food Education staff with the running of cooking classes (help with setup and teardown, assist cooking class participants as needed)
Set up and tear down mobile stores. Help with store operation and inventory counts.
Volunteer in health, fitness childcare, aquatics, community development, administration, and other departments at the YMCA in Regina.
Bag dry goods such as pasta, rice,cereal, etc. Clean and build boxes
